Habitat for Humanity

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Waco Habitat for Humanity envisions neighborhoods transformed into vibrant, safe communities where decent housing is a matter of conscience and collaboration. People from all walks of life are invited to help, regardless of skill level or religious beliefs. Each partner family invests at least 300 hours of labor – sweat equity – and purchases its home at cost through a zero-interest mortgage.

Waco Habitat provides Lake Shore members an effective and user-friendly venue for alleviating the significant problem of poverty housing in our community. Opportunities to participate abound and include helping to build Habitat homes, wheelchair ramps, and kitchen cabinets, providing lunch for the Prison Partnership, helping out at the ReStore building materials retail outlet, serving on the Family Support or Family Selection committee, and providing clerical assistance at the office.
